As you could surmise from the name, Monster Truck is a heavy, greasy, bluesy hard rock band. They've been touring a lot these past few years and have secured some pretty coveted opening slots as well as playing their own headlining shows.
I'd never payed much attention to them because their records sound pretty generic but I was pleasantly surprised by their performance last night opening for Deep Purple. Sure, they're unsubtle to say the least but their songs are better than I remembered and it's always good to hear this brand of vintage seventies hard rock played so well. A good appetiser before the main course.
